The Balvenie distillery
The Balvenie distillery is nestled in the hills of Speyside. The distillery was built in 1889 and for the past 6 decades has released a range of single malt whiskies crafted by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE. Each expression is unique, but all are rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by a distinctive honeyed house character.

The Balvenie distillery proudly maintains the traditional Five Rare Crafts of whisky making, each preserved by a master craftsman.
Made by heart
Whilst it takes skill to make whisky, it requires heart to make it extraordinary. Our dedicated craftsmen pour themselves into every single bottle of The Balvenie. The dedication, creativity, passion and obsession of our Makers truly sets us apart.
Our Malt Master
The Balvenie Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, has devoted his six-decade career to Scotch whisky. His pioneering techniques have had a profound impact on the production methods used today – most famously ‘cask finishing’. In 2016, David was presented with an MBE by Her Majesty The Queen.
Tales of character, written in whisky
The Balvenie distillery is built on the stories that are told from each generation of craftsmen to the next. They’re our lifeblood. Our Stories Range whiskies explore some of the memorable times at the distillery, telling both the story of the whisky and the people that made it.
